In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Gurugram authorities have implemented several measures to ensure public safety and maintain administrative readiness. These actions follow military strikes and suspected drone intrusions, prompting heightened vigilance across the region.

Leave Cancellations and Administrative Preparedness

As a precautionary measure, all leaves for government employees in Gurugram have been canceled. This directive aims to ensure full administrative readiness to respond effectively to any emerging situation. The order ensures that all officials are available for duty, maintaining essential services and facilitating rapid response in case of emergencies.

Public Safety Protocols

The Gurugram administration has outlined specific protocols for public safety, focusing on awareness and community-level action. Key measures include:

  • Restrictions on Aerial Activities: To prevent panic and potential security breaches, a ban has been enforced on drones, microlight aircraft, gliders, power gliders, hot air balloons, kite flying, Chinese microlights, and fireworks across Gurugram. This ban is effective from May 9 to July 7, 2025. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
  • Air Strike and Blackout Instructions: Residents are advised to follow instructions related to air strike warning sirens and blackout protocols. Sirens with a 5-kilometer range and smaller sirens covering up to 2 kms are being installed across the district to ensure maximum coverage. In the event of a blackout, residents in Ambala are urged to stay indoors, avoid rooftops, and remain away from balconies until further notice.
  • Verified Information: The Deputy Commissioner has urged residents to rely solely on updates shared through verified handles on platforms like X, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, specifically DC Gurugram and DIPRO Gurugram. This aims to prevent the spread of misinformation and ensure the public receives accurate and timely updates.
  • Increased Security Measures: Security has been intensified at public places, with anti-sabotage checks conducted at malls, markets, hotels, and other vital spots. Bomb disposal squads are on standby to address any potential threats.

Broader Regional Response

Gurugram's actions align with broader measures taken across the region in response to the heightened tensions. Delhi has also canceled leaves for government employees to ensure emergency preparedness. Schools have been closed in Gurugram and Punjab. Airports in high-risk areas, including Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, will remain shut until May 15. The Health Ministry has also canceled all leaves for its officials and is mobilizing resources to ensure readiness.

Call for Public Cooperation

The district administration has urged residents to remain alert and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies. These steps are crucial to maintaining peace and order in the region amidst the ongoing tensions.
