Health concerns are emerging in Bangladesh as floodwaters recede. Authorities are bracing for the spread of waterborne diseases and are racing to deliver supplies. More than 4.5 million people are stranded and 42 people have been killed by the worst flooding in northeast Sylhet region in more than a hundred years. The floods also damaged 75,000 hectares of paddy and 300,000 hectares of other crops. Nearly 2,000 rescue teams have been deployed.
